Actor-director Sasikumar plays a police officer in his next, an investigative thriller co-starring Manasa Radhakrishnan. The film is directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, who has directed Malayalam movies like College Days and the recent Prithviraj-starrer Tiyaan.
Producer Nemichand Jhabak announced the project in a statement, and said that the film, tentatively titled Production No 14, stars award-winning actor Appukutty, Vidhya Pradeep, last seen in Thadam, and Guru Somasundaram in the main roles. Composer Ronnie Raphael, who has worked on Priyadarshan’s Nimir, is on board for music. Cinematography is by Gopinath S, and editing by KJ Venkatraman.
The film is said to be a new territory for Sasikumar, who plays the role of a suspended police officer who gets entangled in a series of crimes. It is also not set in a rural area unlike Sasikumar’s recent films. Malayalam actor Manasa has a separate track in the story, and she is not paired opposite Sasikumar.
This is director Krishnakumar’s first Tamil movie. Locations in Munnar, Madurai, Theni and Chennai have been finalised for shoot, and almost 50% is already complete in Munnar. The team will be travelling to Madurai next.
Manasa Radhakrishnan has two Malayalam movies – Children’s Park with director Shafi, and Uriyadi with John Varghese, under production. She has acted in the Tamil film Balasali in 2016, and has also worked as a choreographer for many years.
Sasikumar recently completed shoot for Kombu Vecha Singamda, which is said to be the second part of director SR Prabhakaran’s 2012 film Sundarapandian. The movie features Madonna Sebastian, Hareesh Peradi, Yogi Babu and others.
