Actor Kathir, who won the hearts of many with his performance in Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum Perumal, will next be seen in a commercial role in the upcoming cop thriller Sathru directed by debutant Naveen Nanjundan. The film is set to hit the screens on March 8. The trailer of the film was unveiled recently.
The one-and-a-half minute video shows how hard Kathir tries to find a murderer who is actually close to him. It promises a film packed with a lot of action, chase sequences, mind games and a tug of war between the cop and the antagonist.
The film stars Srushti Dange as the female lead. Produced by Dilli Babu under the banner Milestone Movies, who earlier produced Raatsasan and Marakatha Naanayam, the film also has Suja Varunee, Neelima, Ponvannan, Marimuthu and others in pivotal roles.
Laguparan of Raatinam fame plays the antagonist. Music for the film is composed by Amrish, with lyrics by Kabilan, Karky and Sorko. Cinematography is by Mahesh Muthuswami. The stunts are choreographed by Vicky, and Prasanna GK is the editor.
The film was earlier scheduled to release in February, and was then pushed to March 1. Now the release date has been postponed to March 8.

According to a report in Times Of India, Sathru is an action thriller with the entire story taking place in 24 hours. It has a mix of action and romance. The plot of the film revolves around a fearless cop who finds five hardened criminals who are in hiding.
Talking about the film, actor Kathir earlier told Silverscreen, “The lead character in Sathru is a cop, but a cop who is different, not like the ones in films like Singam 3. This film depicts many incidents that have parallels in real life, but this film is not based on any specific incident. It is inspired by various other incidents.”
