Gurthundha Seethakalam, the upcoming Telugu film starring actors Satya Dev and Tamannaah Bhatia, will hit theatres this summer, director Nagashekar Rachaiah tells Silverscreen India.
The trailer of the romantic drama was recently released via social media on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. It is produced by Nagashekar Movies and Manikanta Entertainments, in association with Srivedakshara Films.
The film is currently in the final stages of post-production and the makers are looking for a release sometime in April or May, says the director.
Nagashekar, who is known for helming Kannada films like Myna (2013) and Amar (2019), is making his Telugu directorial debut with Gurthundha Seethakalam. The film is inspired by the 2020 Kannada romantic drama Love Mocktail, starring Darling Krishna, Milana Nagaraj and Amrutha Iyengar. “I had bought the rights to that film and wanted to introduce my friend as a filmmaker with this project. But, due to certain circumstances, I later took up the direction,” Nagashekar mentions.
On the plot of Gurthundha Seethakalam, he says, “Satya Dev plays the role of a software engineer in this romantic drama that explores events that happen in a man’s life, specifically during the season of winter. The title means, ‘Do you remember the winter?’ and the film explores different stages of the protagonist’s life during winter, from his school days to college. In a nutshell, it shows the magical, romantic moments brought forth by the season.”
Besides the two lead actors, the film also features Megha Akash, and Kavya Shetty in pivotal roles.

The film’s crew includes composer Kaala Bhairava, editor Kotagiri Venkateswar Rao and cinematographer Satya Hegde, and Nagashekar calls this the “biggest technical crew” he has worked with. He adds that there are five songs in the film, one of which has been released.
Gurthundha Seethakalam went on floors in December 2020 and was wrapped up in August the following year. It was shot in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
After this film, the director will be making his Tamil debut with the film November Mazhaiyil Naanum Avalum, a musical love story. “I am also starring in it and we have one schedule of shoot remaining. I will be directing a pan-Indian film named Q as well. It is based on a college love story and the shooting will commence in April,” he adds.
