Seerum Puli Starring Bobby Simha as Prabhakaran to Go on Floors Soon

Actor Bobby Simha tweeted a poster of his upcoming film Seerum Puli, the biopic of Velupillai Prabhakaran who was the leader of Tamil Tigers or Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), on Saturday. The actor also confirmed that the film will go on floors soon.

The film is helmed by Venkatesh Kumar and bankrolled by Studio 18. Sharing the poster on Twitter, Simha wrote, “#RagingTiger will rage soon !!!”  The poster features Simha sitting on a chair, with his legs crossed and wearing a white shirt and grey pants. The words, “Rise of the People’s Leader,” is written on the top. 

Prabhakaran had fought for the rights of Eelam Tamil community in Sri Lanka and demanded an independent state for the Tamils in the northern part of the country. After years of fighting against the Sri Lankan government, Prabhakaran was killed by the country’s army in 2009. 

The film was first announced on November 26, 2018, which marked the 63rd birth anniversary of Prabhakaran. According to reports, the director has planned to make the film into two parts. The first part will concentrate on the early life of Prabhakaran and how he rose up to become the leader of LTTE. The second part will cover his conflict with the Sri Lankan government and the civil war. 

Venkatesh Kumar is known for his works including, Unakkul Naan and Lightman. His film, Neelam, which was based on the Sri Lankan Civil War had run into trouble after it was refused certification by the Censor Board. It had stated that the film could affect the relationship between India and the island nation.

Meanwhile, Bobby Simha was last seen in the anthology film Putham Pudhu Kaalai, where he played a thug in the short film Miracle, helmed by Karthik Subbaraj. Simha will soon be teaming up with Vikram Rajeshwar for a gangster saga. It is also reported that the actor may join hands with director Chakravarthy Chandrachud for the crime thriller I am Kalki, which will mark his debut in Kannada.
