Veteran comedian Senthil will be playing an important role in Vignesh Shivan’s Thaana Serndha Koottam. A source close to the film unit told Times of India, “The actor is playing a crucial character role in Vignesh Shivn’s film. He has got a lot of combination scenes with Suriya, and the team is currently shooting the major portions of the film in Karaikudi.”
Senthil, most famous for his combination comedy with Goundamani has acted in close to 300 films. The 65 year old actor was last seen in Kallapadam.
Earlier this year, rumours of his death began to circulate on social media, forcing the comedian to issue a denial.“I’m perfectly healthy. I request all my fans and well-wishers to not believe in the death hoax that has been circulating since last night. Need your support as always,” he said

Directed by Vignesh Sivan, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam will feature Suriya and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, and will be bankrolled by Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green productions. Dinesh Krishnan of Soodhu Kavvum and Thegidi fame will handle the cinematography, while Anirudh is scoring the music.
There have been reports that the film is a remake of 2013 Hindi film Special 26. The remake rights of the film had been bought by actor/producer Thiagarajan, who intended to make the film with his son Prashanth. Thus far, neither camp has commented on the reports.
