Shaam is Macaulay in Purampokku

Purampokku director, SP Jhananathan has given his characters very interesting names. Keeping with the film’s theme of social empowerment and change, all characters have been named after well known social activists.

Actor Shaam plays a police officer called Macaulay, named so after the British politician who reformed the education system in India. Arya is said to essay the role of a fiery social activist, Balu, who was imprisoned after several protests against the Government while Karthika Nair plays Kuyili. We hear that the team is busy shooting the climax portions of the film at a huge set in Binny Mills, Perambur. Plans are on to maintain the lavishly constructed set even post shooting, as a tourist attraction of sorts to benefit future filmmakers.
