Shah Rukh Khan is glad he chose to work with his Jab Harry Met Sejal director Imtiaz Ali, and wants to make a movie with him every year.
“Main ek bahut badi baat bolne wala hoon (I am going to say a very big thing). [Till now], I have worked with some really nice directors but I can say that Imtiaz is like a modern-day Yash Chopra. I don’t think apart from Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Karan (Johar), who have learnt hands-on from Yashji, anyone else gets the same vibe (as Chopra’s films),” he told Hindustan Times.
SRK also said Imtiaz Ali is one of the few directors who’s easy to work with. “Be it his writing or the way he gets [the essence of] man-woman relationship in a very sweet manner, along with having a modern take on it, it’s very beautiful.”
Much like Yash Chopra, who loved filming romantic films and songs in Europe, Imtiaz too indulges in the same routine in which both girl and boy break out in a romantic number on the road, revealed the actor. “He also loves his actors the way Yashji would. Also, he is very gentle and kind, so it was great fun to team up with him,” SRK added.
Jab Harry Met Sejal is a romantic drama with most of the shooting taking place in Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Budapest. Incidentally, the film marks the two lead actors’ third collaboration, after Anushka’s debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
The film is scheduled to release on August 4, in a likely box-office clash with Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha.
