Soon after the title of Imtiaz Ali’s next film was announced – Jab Harry Met Sejal, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma – social media users laughed at the apparently ‘unoriginal’ title. Speaking to Mid-Day, SRK defended the title and said that there’s more to the story.
“We are all too close to the film to be objective. I was reading an article where the writer has taken great pains to go into the depth of why the film’s title is not good. People have to understand [that] it’s just the title, there’s more to the film. There’s got to be a strong enough reason why the film is called that,” he said.
Before the announcement, reports suggested that the film’s name is The Ring, but SRK felt it was a little too boring.
“Rehnuma was something we were considering, but it just didn’t go with the story. This is an upbeat film about Sejal Parikh (Anushka Sharma) and Harinder Mehra (his character). It’s not like I am not happy with the title. I am happy, but eventually it’s the director and the writer, who are most attached to the name,” he said.
Just in case Ranbir Kapoor ever claims it…the title Jab Harry met Sejal was never ever suggested by him!So he doesn’t win the Rs.5000 reward

The film is a romantic drama with most of the shooting taking place in Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Budapest. Incidentally, the film marks the two lead actors’ third collaboration, after Anushka’s debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
Jab Harry Met Sejal is scheduled to release on August 4, in a likely box-office clash with Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha.
