Actor Sharon Stone is said to be in talks to feature in the upcoming DC superhero film, Blue Beetle. The Oscar-nominated actor, who shot to fame with the 1992 film Basic Instinct, is in consideration for the role of villain Victoria Kord, according to The Wrap.
The character of Kord is one that has been originally created for the film, which is expected to release in August 2023.
In addition to Stone’s Kord, Blue Beetle will also feature another villain called Carapax the Indestructible Man, essayed by Raoul Max Trujillo.
Angel Manuel Soto, who directed Charm City Kings, is set to helm Blue Beetle, which will be produced by John Rickard. The screenplay is written by Mexican writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote Universal’s remake of Scarface and Sony’s Miss Bala.
Blue Beetle has been a part of the DC superhero community since 1939, and has served both as a solo adventurer as well as a part of teams like the Justice League and the Teen Titans.
In the comics, the Blue Beetle identity has been adopted over time by three different men from different backgrounds. The original Blue Beetle was an archaeologist named Dan Garrett, who discovered an ancient scarab in an old Egyptian tomb that gave him superpowers which he used to fight crime. His successor Ted Kord had no special powers, but carried on the Blue Beetle legacy with “just his wits and his fists, along with a whole lot of gadgets and a sharp sense of humour.”
It remains to be seen if a connection is drawn between the Victoria Kord character and the second Blue Beetle Ted Kord.

The most recent Blue Beetle is Jaime Reyes, a teenager from El Paso, Texas who bonded with Dan Garrett’s scarab. He has alien technology, combat and flight skills, and instant weaponry at his disposal.
Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner, Reyes was introduced during the Infinite Crisis crossover event ahead of the launch of a new Blue Beetle in May 2006.
Reyes will be played in the upcoming film by actor Xolo Mariduena, from Cobra Kai, and this will mark the first time a DC Film is headlined by a Latino star.
