Shilpa Shetty’s Remark on George Orwell’s 1945 book Animal Farm has made her the subject of trolls and memes online.
Recently, it was announced that Harry Potter, Tintin, Amar Chitra Katha, and many others will be part of the English syllabus for ICSE students. In a Times of India article, Shilpa Shetty commented saying “I think having books like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as part of the syllabus is a great move because it cultivates imagination and creativity at a young age. I think books like Little Women would also encourage respect towards women at a young age. Even a book like Animal Farm can teach the little ones to love and care for animals.”
Great.
Except Animal Farm is actually about the events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.
Naturally, the social media picked it up, making #ShilpaShettyReviews a national trend.
