Shoot has begun for actor Karthi’s next film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is said to be an action thriller, and was announced before a pooja on the film sets in December 2018.
According to a ToI report, the team has already wrapped up its Chennai schedule. “The Chennai schedule was small and lasted only for a few days. But the Thenkasi schedule will be on for some time as it is quite long,” said a source close to the movie.
“They will take a break during Pongal for two days or so, but will resume shooting there itself as certain important parts of the films were set there,” adds the source. Tentatively titled Karthi18, the film made news for being one of the few movies with no female lead.
“Karthi does have a romantic interest in the film, but the character will not be on screen. However, audiences will not feel the absence of the heroine. It is an out and out action thriller, and will be intense and emotional,” said the director in another report.
Anbariv is the action director for the film. It has been reported that the movie has 70% action scenes. The director said, “The story is set in a place that is neither urban nor rural.”

Narain, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru Dheena, Ramana and George play important roles in the movie. Sam CS scores music for the movie. Sathyan Sooryan, who also shot Karthi’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, is the cinematographer.
Philomin Raj is the editor, Satish Kumar is the art director, and Pon Parthiban has written dialogues for the film.
Director Kanagaraj made his debut with Maanagram in 2017. He won rave reviews for the movie. It starred Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra and Sree, and was an action thriller with hyperlink narration style or parallel story lines in the screenplay.
