Actress Shruti Haasan has turned vegetarian recently. The 7aum Arivu star decided to quit eating meat following her father Kamal Haasan’s suggestion. Shruti tweeted:
So thanks to my Bapujis suggestion I’ve become a vegetarian – it’s good! But I do get butter prawns and calamari dreams – that’s normal yea?

Shruti revealed that she had always relished non-vegetarian dishes and beef was her favourite. But when she visited Chennai last time, Kamal Haasan advised her to try being a vegetarian, although he is a non-vegetarian. Speaking to a daily, Shruti said she realized that her father’s suggestion made sense and she feels a lot lighter after she stopped eating meat. She does confess her love for the good old south Indian ‘saapad’ though. She also warns she isn’t going to stop trying out new cuisines,Turkish and Japanese food being her favourites, but will focus on eating right.
After a successful outing in Telugu this year with Race Gurram, Shruti will be seen with Vishal in Poojai, that releases on Deepavali. She is also making special appearances in the Mahesh Babu starrer Aagadu in Telugu and Arjun Kapoor’s starrer Tevar, a remake of Ghilli.
