The director told Silverscreen, “We have changed a lot to suit the Tamil audience and the cast, so we don’t want to call it a remake. The characters will be almost the same, but the heroine’s portions are entirely changing and about 40 percent of the first half of the film will be different.”

About STR and Gautham Karthik’s characters, Narthan said, “One of them plays the cop, and the other character is an underworld don. We can’t reveal who is who yet, but it is definitely a role that STR and Gautham Karthik haven’t done before. STR has a mass following. Once he came on board, we selected Gautham because he was apt for the role.”

The film is an action-thriller drama, and the director said that three actors are being considered to play the female lead. Naveen Kumar, the cinematographer who worked on Mufti, is on board. Shoot will begin by May end or the first week of June, and more announcements will be made soon.

This morning, Gautham Karthik took to Twitter to confirm his participation and said he was super excited to be acting with STR. They last acted in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.

Gautham Karthik is awaiting the release of director M Muthaiah’s Devarattam, also produced by KE Gnanavel Raja. His film Chella Pilla, directed by Arun Chandhiran, a former associate of Ponram, is under production. He was last seen in Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuthu and Chandramouli.

Meanwhile, STR is busy with Venkat Prabhu’s Maanadu. There were reports saying that the film had been shelved, but producer Suresh Kamatchi recently confirmed that things were on track. Simbu had travelled to London to shed weight for the film, and it is believed to be one of the reasons why didn’t vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
