Singers Fight Over Credits For Butterfly Song From ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’

Jab Harry Met Sejal, New Track

The recently-released song ‘Butterfly’ from Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal now has its singers fighting over credits. While the YouTube channel of Sony Music India credits Aaman Trikha, Nooran Sisters, Dev Negi and Sunidhi Chauhan for the track composed by Pritam, Trikha and Negi have been sparring over credits on social media.

Musician Chirrantan Bhat took to Facebook in Negi’s defence, after Shah Rukh Khan recently lauded only Aaman Trikha for the song.

On July 14, after the song was released, Shah Rukh Khan responded to Trikha’s tweet thanking him.

Speaking to Mid-Day, Negi asserts that he deserves credit. “The male voice is mine. Maybe, Aaman was credited by mistake. I will talk to the label about it. SRK’s voice in the song is mine. Pritam da must be busy. Also, he doesn’t have the time to look into these things. But, it’s unfair.”

Trikha, on the other hand, is glad that his work has been recognised by Shah Rukh Khan. “Pritam da had called me and I recorded the song. Both the singers have been credited for it, so, why is there a problem? Everyone, including SRK, has acknowledged my work. Are they all wrong? It’s a proud moment for me because it’s my first song for him. I haven’t been credited out of the blue. I have recorded the song. What happens in the mixing is out of my control.”

Pritam, however, clears the air about the furore over credits. “Aaman has sung for it, so, I have to credit him. Thirty-five singers sang a song in Jagga Jasoos (‘Khana Khake’), and all have been credited. Even in ‘Selfie Le Le’ ( from Bajrangi Bhaijaan), Nakash [Aziz] has sung only one line, but we have credited him. Dev’s is the primary voice, but Aaman’s vocals are included as well.”

Jab Harry Met Sejal is a romantic drama, and most of the shooting took place in Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Budapest. Incidentally, the film marks the two third collaboration of the lead actors after Anushka’s debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).

The film is scheduled to release on August 4.
