Sofia Hayat Threatened With Legal Action By Six X Director; Says Her Duty Is To Humanity

Six X director Chandrakant Singh is likely to sue former actress and model Sofia Hayat for refusing to complete work on the film. Hayat, who is now a nun named Mother Sofia, has been unavailable to dub for a scene or promote the film. Six X is about the status of six women living in a patriarchal society.

According to a Times of India report, Hayat had stopped responding to calls and messages regarding her incomplete dubbing. “We have been forced to hire a dubbing artiste as she has refused to dub the scene. In fact, she is fighting tooth and nail to stop the film from releasing. We are planning legal action against her. Since she is a foreign national, she is not registered with CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes’ Association) and hence, we can’t pressurise her through the governing body,” said the director.

Hayat, on the other hand, does not want the film to release because of her ‘transformation’. In June this year, Hayat claimed to have undergone a transformation where she said she “gave birth to Lord Shiva“. A former contestant at reality TV show Bigg Boss Season 7, Hayat had embarked on a spiritual journey in June after visiting the Kailash Temple at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Calling herself Mother Sofia now, Hayat has vowed to be celibate and not wear make-up. She now devotes her time to prayer.

Believing that after seeking divinity, she is now engaged in a ‘peaceful fight’ with the director. Speaking to TOI, she said, “I did the film over a year ago, so any contractual obligations are over. Besides, all this took place before my transformation so I don’t want it to release. I’m not acting in movies anymore, so why should I dub or promote this film? I will peacefully fight my case against Chandrakant. I am a strong and divine woman now. My duty is to myself and humanity, not to a film maker.”

The first trailer of the film was officially launched in December last year, and featured a number of celebrities, including TV actress Shweta Tiwari, Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta, and Ashmit Patel.

Six X is slated to release on 25 August.
