Soundarya Rajinikanth has confirmed that a biopic on Rajinikanth will be made. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, she said, “Yes, we are planning a film on my father’s life. My sister Aishwarya is writing a book on my dad. The film seems to be a natural progression from there.”
She said that the family felt that after Kabali‘s release, this was the right time to film Rajinikanth’s rise from a bus conductor to Indian cinema’s demigod.
Aishwarya Dhanush began work on the semi-autobiographical Standing On an Apple Box earlier this year. Speaking to The Hindu, she said, “It’s an experience I’m engaging with to share my memories and experiences that could give an insight into my family, how we live and how we’ve grown up.” The book will also chronicle areas of Rajinikanth’s life that no one has heard of, she said.
Rajinikanth is currently working on Shankar’s Endhiran 2.0. Produced by Lyca Productions on a budget of Rs. 350 crores, the film also stars Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar. The music will be scored by AR Rahman.

She is also working on a new script. “Moving away from animation, my upcoming film will be a romantic comedy and I’m working closely with my brother-in-law (actor Dhanush) on the script. Hopefully, it will all come together soon,” she told Deccan Chronicle.
In 2014, Soundarya had directed Kochadaiiyaan, which starred Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone. She also produced Goa in 2010.
