There has been a lot of speculation on the release date of 2.0. Rajnikanth, on Thursday, threw some light on its release date. He said that they had initially planned April 27 as the release date, however, extensive CG work has caused the delay. There will be an announcement in a few days, he added.
Earlier it was reported that complex visual effects work is taking longer than expected. The VFX work has been distributed to many studios across the globe. The film has around 11,000 VFX shots and each shot is being worked upon with a lot of care.
On January 26, director Shankar had announced that the teaser work for the movie is going on in full swing. But there were no comments on the release date.
2.0 was initially supposed to release in December, further got delayed to January 26. But with PadMan‘s release date, the release was postponed again. But now, PadMan too got postponed owing to Padmaavat‘s release. Starring Rajinikanth, 2.0 has Akshay Kumar playing the antagonist and Amy Jackson as the female lead. Music is by AR Rahman.
