Sumesh & Ramesh, the upcoming Malayalam film starring actors Sreenath Bhasi and Balu Varghese in the titular roles, is set to release in theatres on November 26.
The film is backed by Fareed Khan under Whitesands Media House Production in association with KL7 Entertainment. Shaleel Azeez and Shibu serve as co-producers.
Sumesh & Ramesh is directed by debutant Sanoop Thykoodam, who has written the film’s script along with Joseph Vijeesh.
In conversation with Silverscreen India, director Sanoop says, “Sumesh & Ramesh will be a family comedy entertainer. Bhasi plays the role of Sumesh while Varghese plays Ramesh. They are brothers who live in a village. The film explores their relationship with each other, their family dynamics, and their love lives, with a humorous touch.”
Actors Salim Kumar and Praveena Lalithabai play the father and mother of the duo in the film. Apart from them, three female actors were also selected through auditions, the filmmaker adds.
Sanoop, who says they took around two months to finish the scripting, adds that the film’s story was developed based on incidents that happened in their friends’ lives.
“As we were working on the script, we narrated the story to Bhasi and Varghese, who are my good friends. They agreed to be part of the project as they liked the story. Their combination worked well in the Honey Bee film series and we hope it will again.”
Sumesh & Ramesh was shot for around 30 days in November 2019 at a countryside set up in Cherthala, Alappuzha district. The film’s cinematography has been handled by Alby.

Yakzan Gary Pereira and Neha S Nair have composed the music for the film that includes four songs, one of which is a promo track.
Sanoop notes that the initial plan was to release the film in March 2020. However, this could not happen due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “The team has been waiting for the film to see the light of the day since then. Despite the delay and uncertainty, our producer was supportive and took a strong stand that it would be a theatrical release,” he adds
The director promises that Sumesh & Ramesh will be a feel-good experience for the audience. “They can enjoy the film with their family. In the last couple of years, most Malayalam films have been fast-paced thrillers. So Sumesh & Ramesh will be a refreshing watch.”
