Malayalam actor-director Sreenivasan is all set to collaborate with his younger son Dhyan in an upcoming film Kuttymama, directed by VM Vinu.
The veteran actor is notable for his onscreen humour in films like Aram + Aram = Kinnaram, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Chithramand and many other. Earlier this year, Sreenivasan collaborated with his elder son Vineeth in Aravindante Athidhikal, in which he played hotelier Madhavan.
According to a report in Times Of India, Kuttymama is about a jawan’s life, and focuses on incidents during the Kargil war that left a lasting impact on him. Vinu also said that the film has a humourous tone and would be a complete family entertainer. The film will also see Durga Krishna of Vimaanam fame as the female lead.
The word Kuttymama, meaning a younger uncle, reminds one of the way Jagathy’s character addresses MS Thripunithura’s in Yodha. Sreenivasan will play a jawan named Shekharankutty, while everyone in his family and those close to him call him Kuttymama. Vinu says this is how the title came about.

The film is penned by Manaf and is expected to begin production by August. Sreenivasan and Dhyan are not the only father-son duo on this project. Vinu’s son Varun will be behind the camera on Kuttymama. The film will also star Surabhi Lakshmi, Premkumar and Harish Kanaran and will be shot in Kollengode, Palakkad. The music will be composed by Achu Rajamoni.
Dhyan started his career as an assistant director under his uncle M Mohanan, and made his acting debut in 2013 with Thira, a thriller starring Shobana in the lead, and directed by his brother Vineeth. Dhyan is awaiting the release of his film Sachin, directed by Santhosh Nair.
