Actress Sri Divya, who will be reprising Nazriya Nazim’s role in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Bangalore Days, will also play the female lead in Marudhu, directed by Muthaiah of Komban fame. The film also stars Vishal. Earlier reports had suggested that Lakshmi Menon would be cast as the heroine in the film.

Radha Ravi has also been cast in Marudhu. Given the rivalry between Vishal and Radha Ravi during the Nadigar Sangam elections, this was a surprise inclusion. Muthaiah was reportedly apprehensive about approaching both actors, but the two were cooperative and ready to share screen space.
Marudhu, which has music scored by D Imman, is tipped to be an action drama in a rural setting. Vishal is currently shooting for Kathakali, and is expected to join the Marudhu sets only after he finishes work on Kathakali.
