Directed by Ravi Udyawar, Mom, as its title suggests, is about a mother who seeks revenge from those who brutally gang-raped her teenage daughter. She gets the help of a detective to find the perpetrators.

Talking about Mom, the film’s producer and the actress’ husband Boney Kapoor said, “Mom is a film that has connected with both mothers and audiences from every region. This is Sri’s last film and our aim is to tell this beautiful story and showcase her most remembered last film to as many people as possible,” as quoted by CE.

Shah Rukh Khan’s film Zero starred the actress in a guest role and was released posthumously. Mom was her last appearance in a full role. The movie also featured Akshay Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as prominent characters.

Zee Studios produced the movie, and a spokesperson for the production house said that the film will have a big release in China. “We will be giving the film as big a release like some of the bigger Bollywood films. We hope for a successful run in China especially since the audience there, we feel, will be able to relate to this powerful story of a strong female character’s journey,” as quoted by Variety.

The movie won Sridevi a National Award for Best Actress in 2018.

Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, by accidentally drowning in a bathtub in a hotel in UAE after losing consciousness. While the trailer of a film that seems to be inspired by the events in Sridevi’s life has already released, her husband, Boney Kapoor, is reportedly planning to make a movie based on her life.
