Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who is awaiting the release of RRR, is in talks with actor Allu Arjun for a new film, a source in the know confirmed to Silverscreen India, on condition of anonymity.
However, an official announcement on the same is yet to be made. If the talks bear fruit, this project will mark the first collaboration of the actor and the filmmaker.
Speaking to us, the source said, “It is confirmed that talks are on between Allu Arjun and Rajamouli. The duo has been planning to do a film together for a couple of years now. However, Rajamouli first has a film with Mahesh Babu in the pipeline and this project might take off after that one.”
“It will take about a year or so for Allu Arjun and Rajamouli to finish their respective prior commitments before starting on their collaboration,” added the source, going on to expand on the expected timeline. “Mahesh Babu will first finish his film with Trivikram after the release of Sarkaru Vaari Paata. Once that is done, he will move on to the one with Rajamouli, which is currently in the scripting stage. The director will start his film with Allu Arjun after the completion of the Mahesh Babu project.”
KV Vijayendra Prasad, father of Rajamouli, is likely to be involved in the scripting of the Allu Arjun film, according to the source. Vijayendra Prasad has previously worked with his son on films like Baahubali, RRR and Magadheera.

Meanwhile, Rajamouli’s upcoming film RRR is scheduled to hit theatres on March 25. The period drama features an ensemble star cast, including actors Ram Charan, Junior NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, and Olivia Morris.
On the other hand, Allu Arjun, who was last seen in the immensely successful pan-Indian film Pushpa: The Rise, will reprise the role of a red sanders smuggler in the second instalment, Pushpa: The Rule. Directed by Sukumar and backed by Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2 will also feature Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil as the female lead and the antagonist, respectively.
