Following a copyright violation petition filed by the makers of SS Rajamouli’s Magadheera against Sushant Singh Rajput’s Raabta, the Hyderabad High Court has issued a notice to the latter, asking for a clarification. The case has been adjourned to 1 June.
Magadheera, directed by SS Rajamouli, stars Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal as star-crossed lovers who eventually find each other in a different life. Raabta’s trailer shares the same premise.
In their petition, the Magadheera team alleges that Raabta‘s writers have “copied its unique story and plot line” in violation of copyright.

Meanwhile, Raabta‘s writers have dismissed the similarities between the two films. “Two lovers meeting across time is a template of a past-life film. So if someone is saying that Raabta reminds them of Magadheera, then it should also remind them of every other past-life film that has ever been made in the country. People have also compared it to Mirzya.
Nobody has watched the film yet. Comparing something on the basis of how it looks is a little shallow. Our characters are completely different. The story is not something that we have consciously taken from anywhere. The script is a product of our combined imagination.”
Raabta stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon.
