STR watched his Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada in a Chennai theatre recently. Surprised to see the theatre full, just a week after the demonetization initiative, STR released a thanks-giving message for his fans. “Even on a Monday, I saw theatres full of audience. It made me feel sentimental. I am ecstatic at the turn of events.”
He credited the film’s success to his fans. “In spite of cash problems, crowds came into theatres and watched the film. We are not responsible for any of this. It’s the audience that made it happen. This is not my victory. This is the fans’ victory.”

STR also thanked his crew – director Gautham Menon, music composer AR Rahman, and cinematographer Dan Macarthur for their outstanding work in the project. AYM is the actor’s second film with Gautham Menon, and took nearly four years to get to the theatres. The movie was hit with several delays, and casting changes, before it reached the screens on November 11.
STR will reprise his role from Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. The new film, another Menon project, is a multi-starrer that also has Puneeth Rajkumar and Prithviraj. Meanwhile, STR also has Adhik Ravi’s AAA, in which he essays three roles.
