Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree is a horror comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi. The trailer of the film was released recently.
The trailer begins with Pankaj Tripathi narrating the story of a mythical ghost who likes to target young men. The men disappear, but their clothes remain. She is given the name ‘Stree’ but nobody knows what she looks like or when will she appear. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao meets Shraddha Kapoor at a village fair. There is an air of mystery around her. She tells a besotted Rao that she comes to the fair only during a certain time. Thus starts a series of hilarious, but chilling adventures for the young men in the small town. The trailer has its spooky moments and you get to see Rao and Tripathi in their comic elements.
Rao, who is known to be a method actor, underwent training to play the role of a tailor. Sharing about his preparation experiences, Rao said, “Once you sit on that chair, the coordination and reflexes are something else. You can cheat with a body double but I wanted to do everything and bought myself a sewing machine and hired a tailor in Mumbai to teach me how to sew. I also had a tailor guiding me on the sets in Chanderi.”

The film has been shot in Chanderi, a small town near Bhopal. Rao was very keen to adapt to the Chanderi dialect. He underwent continuous training for about a month and also had a dialect coach on the sets who made sure that Rao sounded like a Chanderi resident. He made it a point to chat with the locals during the shoot to get the accent right.
Dinesh Vijan is producing the film in association with Maddock Films production, D2r films and Jio Studios. It’s set to release August 31.
