Sundar C: Cannes 2017 Opening For ‘Sangamithra’ Is “Big Enough”

Sundar C, who wanted to unveil his period drama Sangamithra on a “great, big platform,” tells Silverscreen that he thinks the upcoming Cannes 2017 is a suitably big stage. The film stars Arya, Jayam Ravi, and Shruti Haasan.

Sundar said, “I’m elated at this opportunity. Without Thenandal Studios’ backing, such a feat would not be possible. That too for a Tamil project to be unveiled at the great Cannes stage is a huge honour. It justifies the belief that my producers had in me and my script.”

AR Rahman and Sabu Cyril are also on board the project. “Rahman’s presence gives us the international connect. Cyril sir’s work more than speaks for itself. Together, they elevate Sangamithra.

Both Arya and Jayam Ravi have trained heavily for their characters in the film. “They both have very physically demanding roles, and will look completely new in this project. Wait for the first look to see!”

This is Thenandal’s most expensive film till date.
