‘Superstar Kidnap’ May Herald A New Genre: Sushanth Reddy

There was some relief for debutant director Sushanth Reddy as his much-delayed film Superstar Kidnap will finally release on Friday. A crime comedy about three youngsters who plan to kidnap superstar Mahesh Babu, Sushanth has co-produced the film with his friend Chandu Penmatsha.

Speaking to Silverscreen, Sushanth emphasized that the film would be entertaining, but also possibly bring something new to the industry: “What we’ve attempted here is to tell a story about a real person, but with a fictional touch. This type of storytelling has been used in Hollywood films like Being John Malkovich. Telugu audiences haven’t experienced anything like this before, and that’s what makes our film different.”

He hopes that the film will be successful enough to open the industry’s doors to this rarely used genre. The film features Aadarsh Balakrishna, Nandoo and Bhupal in the lead, while Poonam Kaur, Tejaswini Madivada and Vennela Kishore comprise the supporting cast.
