The actor mentioned this when speaking at a press meet in Kochi on Tuesday, ahead of the release of his upcoming Tamil film, Etharkkum Thuninthavan.

Suriya said that Neerad had met him in Chennai earlier and narrated a story. “We had a wonderful discussion and had spoken about a film earlier. We discussed doing a remake of one of Mammukka’s (Mammootty’s) films. I did not initiate talks with him since, but now, I will contact him and ask if we can work together sometime in the future.”

Noting that he has not yet watched Neerad’s recent film, Bheeshma Parvam, the actor said he hoped to catch it in theatres.

Produced, co-written and directed by Neerad, Bheeshma Parvam hit the big screens on March 3. The film, which marks the second collaboration of Mammootty and Neerad after the 2007 action thriller Big B, opened to positive reviews.

Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan is set to premiere in theatres on Thursday. Produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Pandiraj, the film also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan, Sathyaraj, Vinay Rai, Soori, and Ilavarasu, among others.

Addressing the media, Pandiraj said that it is a commercial film that also talks about women’s empowerment and other social issues. He added that the film has a mix of comedy, emotions, songs, and fight sequences that can be enjoyed by family audiences.

Suriya also mentioned that Etharkkum Thunindhavan discusses issues that are still prevalent in society and speaks about how to handle such situations. He further noted that the film will create room for discussion.

Earlier, the actor had expressed his delight over Etharkkum Thunindhavan opening in theatres as his last theatrical release was nearly two and a half years ago. Suriya’s previous two outings, Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru, premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video. His last film in theatres was Kaappaan in 2019.
