At a pre-event party for the 62nd Jio Filmfare awards, Irudhi Suttru star R Madhavan spoke at length about Suriya’s versatility as an actor. When asked if there was any competition between the two, Madhavan reportedly said, “I don’t think we are on the same level. Suriya is way ahead of me as a star and secondly, the kind of films I do are very different from what he does, so we have never really seen the other as rivals. Even if we were, then I think the competition will be a healthy one.” Madhavan and Suriya are known to share a warm camaraderie.
The duo were also seen partying together along with their families during new year’s eve.
