The Mysore schedule of Suriya starrer Thaanaa Serndha Koottam had to be cancelled after Kannada groups protested at the shooting spot. This is said to be a fallout of Vishal’s speech in Bangalore, on the rights of Tamil people to Cauvery waters.
The Thaanaa Serndha Koottam team had resumed shooting only recently, with the crew wrapping up a schedule in Chennai, and moving sets to Mysore. Suriya, Keerthy Suresh, Ramya Krishnan, and other cast members were to join the crew in Mysore.

However, it is now reported that shooting has been cancelled. There are contradictory reports over the reason for the cancellation. Some outlets report that protests by Kannada groups over Vishal’s speech is the main reason. However, a source close to the unit tells Silverscreen that a Section 144 curfew has been placed in parts of Mysore and Dakshina Kannada, and the team has therefore called off the shoot.
An alternate shooting spot hasn’t been decided yet, and for now the cast and crew will return to Chennai.
