Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam has been re-released in Malaysia. The Vignesh Shivan film has been scheduled for a week starting today at TSR Cinemax with one show per day.

It was bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja under his Studio Green Productions banner. Thaanaa Serndha Koottam starred Keerthy Suresh opposite Suriya while Ramya Krishnan, Karthik, Nandha, Kalaiarasan, RJ Balaji, Thambi Ramaiah, and Suresh Menon had landed significant roles. The film dealt with an aspiring CBI officer Iniyan who gets rejected and thereby forms his own team, posing as CBI officials to expose the corrupt ones.

It is the Tamil adaptation of the 2013 Hindi film Special 26 helmed by Neeraj Pandey, which was in itself inspired by the 1987 Opera House heist in Mumbai. It opened up to good reviews from critics and audiences and collected more than 90 crores at the box office.
Anirudh Ravichander composed music, with Dinesh B Krishnan on the camera, Sreekar Prasad on the edit, and Kiran DRK on art. Dhilip Subbarayan handled stunts with Brinda and Dinesh master for dance.

Meanwhile, films like Dulquer Salmaan’s Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, Tovino Thomas’s Forensic, Fahad Faasil’s Trance also saw re-releases in the theatres of Dubai when they opened up for audiences in May. Bollywood films like Ranveer Singh‘s Simmba and Ajay Devgn‘s Golmaal Again have also been re-released in Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand. Gippy Grewal’s Punjabi film Ardaas Karaan also saw a re-release on June 25 in New Zealand.
