TM Krishna’s Comments On MS Subbulakshmi Draw Sharp Criticism 


Noted Carnatic music vocalist TM Krishna, speaking at a recent event, said that MS Subbulakshmi, who came from a Devadasi background in Madurai over time had dissociated herself from her roots to conform to the notions of an ideal Brahmin woman to find acceptance in society, something that is prominent in her songs of the 1960s and 70s.

According to the Deccan Chronicle, he said, “To embrace Brahminism she distanced herself from her brother and family in Madurai and that is the sad part.”

His comments drew sharp reactions from all quarters, including some of his peers:

The title of the Telugu version of Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam is Gang. The film is directed by Vignesh Shivan, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Apart from Suriya, the film stars Keerthy Suresh, Suresh Menon, Ramya Krishnan, and Senthil. The teaser was released a few days back.

Criminal Case Registered Against Suresh Gopi


A criminal case has been registered against BJP MP and actor Suresh Gopi for forging documents to register his luxury car in Puducherry and evade tax worth Rs 13.5 lakh. The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 464 (forgery) and 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), reported The Times of India.

Avengers: Infinity War To Release In India A Week Before It Opens In The US

Now that Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War trailer is out, the film will release in India a week before it opens in the US in April next year.

Directed by Anthony and Jay Russo, the film is a multi-starrer. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers face their most powerful enemy yet, the evil Thanos (Josh Brolin).
