Earlier, the actor had announced that he will be contesting for the TFPC elections, which is to take place on November 22. Rajendar is currently the president of the Chennai Chengalpet Kanchipuram Thiruvallur Tamil Film Distributors Association.

Meanwhile, the current office is being held by actor Vishal. The actor was asked to resign by the opposition team which included T Siva, Sathya Jyoti Thyagarajan, AL Azhagappan and others, due to alleged misappropriation of funds. The producers had attempted to lock and seal the TFPC office in order to prevent Vishal from entering. However, when Vishal tried to break in, he was arrested. The government later appointed a special officer to administer the council.
