Actor Taapsee Pannu commenced shooting for her next film Rashmi Rocket on Tuesday. Makers of the film took to social media to make the announcement.
“We are soon going to hear only one name on the tracks!#RashmiRocket, filming begins today!” read a tweet from RSVP Movies, which is bankrolling the film.
The film has been billed as a sports drama and is directed by Akarsh Khurana. It is written by Nanda Periyasamy, Aniruddha Guha, and Kanika Dhillon. Shooting for the film was initially slated to commence earlier this year but was stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Rashmi Rocket is being jointly produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Pranjal Khandhdiya and Neha Anand. Music will be composed by Amit Trivedi.
The film also features Priyanshu Painyuli in a lead role.
Pannu shared photos of the film’s script on Instagram and wrote: “On your marks.” She also shared a picture from the set and wrote: “Today at the starting line.”

Painyuli, who will play the role of Pannu’s husband in the film, also shared the announcement and wrote: “It’s time to flag off. Very excited for this one.”

The story, based in Kutch, Gujarat, revolves around a Gujarati girl named Rashmi. The first look motion poster was released last August by Akshay Kumar, which depicted Pannu running against a rural backdrop and on the tracks.
“This ROCKET is set for her next MISSION and she’s off to the tracks! Presenting a glimpse of @tapsee in and as #RashmiRocket,” Kumar had written on Instagram while releasing the motion poster.
Pannu was last seen in Thappad, which released earlier this year. She recently wrapped up shooting for Haseen Dilruba, alongside Vikrant Massey, directed by Vinil Mathew.
Painyuli was seen in Amazon Prime Video’s web series Mirzapur 2, which released in October.
