Poet Tamizhachi turns lyricist with Pisaasu. Having been an integral part of the Tamil literary scene for the past few years, it was no surprise that Tamizhachi finally took the plunge into songwriting. Director Mysskin was very insistent on getting the poet to write a song for the film as he had ‘admired her work and words for years’. Speaking to Silverscreen, Tamizhachi admitted that she was proud to have joined such an illustrious group of writers, and that it intimidated and exhilarated her at the same time. “I have long been nurturing the hope to write a Tamil song, and I always thought that I’d make my debut with Bala, as he’s like a younger brother to me. But Mysskin beat him to it. I’m comforted by the thought that this project involves Bala as well.”
She found music composer Arol Kuroli to be a ‘dedicated and intense young man’, and loved working with the team. “Pisaasu has a vivid plot and I found the process of penning a song for it very challenging. Arol is immensely talented and will surely reach greater heights. Anybody that Mysskin picks is sure to get there.”
Pisaasu is Mysskin’s attempt to subvert the usual ghost story and has Prayaga essay the role of the ghost. Bala has produced the film under his B Studios and will release it around Christmas 2014.
