The Telugu remake of Nayathara’s 2010 hit Malayalam thriller Elektra will likely release on December 29. Nayanthara stars in the remake titled Lady Tiger, which was announced in April this year. According to a 123Telugu report, the film is by Shyamaprasad who also wrote and directed the original Elektra. It is produced by D Suresh.
The Malayalam psychological thriller starred Nayantara in the lead with Manisha Koirala, P Sreekumar, Prakash Raj, Biju Menon and Skanda Ashok and others. It was produced by NB Vindhyan, who had worked with the director on Ore Kadal.
Set in an aristocratic family in Kerala, it tells the story of a daughter’s bonds in the family, with her father Abraham played by Prakash Raj who worked in a plantation in Jaffna, and mother Diana (Manisha Koirala) who was having an affair with Issac, also played by Prakash Raj.
The film was an adaptation of Electra by Sophocles, Electra by Euripides, Oresteia by Aeschylus and Mourning Becomes Electra by Eugene O’Neill. It premiered at the International Film Festival of India in November 2010, its world premiere was at the 7th Dubai International Film Festival
Nayanthara also has other projects in various stages of production.

Nayanthara’s Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is also under production. It is by director Surender Reddy, produced by Ram Charan’s of Konidela Production Company, and is based on the freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from Rayalaseema.
The film has a big star cast with Chiranjeevi, Sudeep, Jagapati Babu, Tamannaah, Vijay Sethupathi, and Brahmaji. Amitabh Bachchan will make a guest appearance.
Her upcoming Tamil film is the Ajith-starrer Viswasam which releases this Pongal. Kolaiyuthir Kaalam by the Unnaipol Oruvan director Chakri Toleti has been in production since 2016. Airaa by KM Sarjun, and a Malayalam film Love Action Drama by Dhyan Sreenivasan are also under production.
