The whole of last year Malayalam film S Durga, originally titled Sexy Durga, and its director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan was in some kind of controversy or the other regarding censorship. But that didn’t discourage them from planning their next project.
The makers of S Durga announced their next project, Unmadiyude Maranam (The Death of an Insane). The movie is conceived, directed and edited by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and he shared the news on Facebook.
Bankrolled by Shaji Mathew and Niv Mathew under Niv Art Movies, Unmadiyude Maranam will be the fourth feature film of Sanal Kumar. His previous three ventures, including S Durga, have won many accolades.
Oraalppokkam, Sanal Kumar’s first feature film won him the Best Director Award at the 2014 Kerala State Film Awards. His second feature Ozhivudivasthe Kali, an adaptation of a short story written by Unni R, received that year’s Kerala State Film Award for Best Feature Film. His last film, S Durga, was received well at international film festivals across the world and won many accolades, including the Prestigious Hivos Tiger Award from the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Unmadiyude Maranam will be narrated by writer-actor Murali Gopy and the music is composed by Armenian composer Lucineh Hovanissian. The movie stars Suni Rs, Rajshri Deshpande, Ambi Neenasam, Kannan Nayar, Pratheesh Praveen among others. The release date of the movie hasn’t been announced yet.
