Thrayam is directed by Sanjith Chandrasenan and produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the Ajith Vijayaka Films banner. The script was written by Arun K Gopinaath who previously wrote the Fahadh Faasil starrer-God’s Own Country (2014).

In conversation with Silverscreen India, Sanjith who is making his directorial debut with Thrayam said that it will be a thriller film.

“The film is set in a non-linear pattern and the entire story happens in one night. The title Thrayam denotes– Man, Money and Mystery– and these elements are significant aspects of the plot. The story follows a series of incidents that happen in a bunch of people’s lives and they are interconnected in a way,” he said.

Sanjith noted that Dhyan’s character’s name in the film is Aashiq and Sunny’s character’s name is Harry. Apart from the duo, Aju Varghese, Niranj Raju, Dain Davis, Karthik Ramakrishnan and Gopi Krishnan play pivotal roles in Thrayam. The film also features Chandhunadh, Rahul Madhav and Shalu Raheem among several others.

“We have around 17 artists who are mainstream film actors and are well known among the audiences. Getting these actors on board has got good mileage for our film.”

According to Sanjith, he along with the writer Arun had earlier planned to work on another film. However, that project did not take off. So the duo later planned to do a thriller film. “We finished scripting in 2020 during the lockdown and later pitched it to producer Ajith. He was interested in the subject and agreed to back our film. Thrayam went on floors in April 2021. We shot for around 30 days, completely in Ernakulam,” he added.

Thrayam’s technical crew includes cinematographer Jiju Sunny, music composer Arun Muraleedharan and editor Ratheesh Raj. Sanjith said that the team has begun the film’s post-production work and are hoping to release it sometime end of this year.
