About the trailer launch, Ranaut was quoted in a TNIE report as saying, “Our marketing team is planning an exciting, never-seen-before trailer launch, and we are all preparing for it like a grand wedding.”

Shariq Patel, CEO of Zee Studios which is co-producing the movie, said: “We will be backing it by giving it a wider release than any other film in this genre. We will be releasing the film in over 50 countries worldwide on January 25.”

The teaser of the movie had released recently. Kamal Jain, the producer of the movie, said: “The teaser of the film has been liked by one and all and created enough buzz around the film and I hope the way the trailer has come out will add more excitement around the film.”

On the 160th death anniversary of Rani Laxmi Bai in June, the makers of the movie had shared a first look poster of the movie captioned, “Remembering one of the bravest women that ever lived.”

The movie had initially run into trouble when a few fringe outfits claimed that the film misrepresented the queen. This forced screenwriter K V Vijayendra Prasad to come out with a clarification. “No need to worry about Manikarnika as I have portrayed her in the most respectable way. She is a warrior who fought against the British. She is my favourite woman leader. I have grown up reading about her. So, I will always portray her in an inspirational way.”

Recently, Manikarnika was in the news when technicians working on the movie allegedly went on strike citing non-payment of dues. Kangana Ranaut later issued a statement. “I’ve been informed about it. There’s nothing as such and it’s just a dispute with a vendor where they don’t think that they should pay as much as the vendor is demanding.”

Director by Krish, Manikarnika marks Kangana Ranaut’s return after last year’s Simran. The actress’s future projects include Prakash Kovelamude’s Mental Kai Kya and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s Panga.
