The Madras High Court has adjourned a petition filed by the IT (Income Tax) department against actress Trisha Krishnan. The bench comprising of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M. Sunder have posted the hearing for June 13.
The actress has been accused of not furnishing enough details about her income in 2010-11. Trisha reportedly chose not to disclose the details of payment she had received as ‘advance’ for acting in films. A fine of Rs 1.11 Crore was imposed on the actress for this crime, but it was cancelled later by the Commissioner of IT Appeals.
According to a PTI report,
The Assessment officer had levied the penalty under Section 271(1)( C) of the Income Tax Act, stating she did not disclose the amount as income in the earlier stages of assessment but filed the revised returns during the course of assessment proceedings.
The IT Department moved the court against this cancellation. A final verdict in the matter will be delivered on June 13.
