‘Varmaa’ To Be Re-Shot With Dhruv Vikram & A New Director

Dhruv Vikram’s debut movie Varmaa, the remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, will be re-shot completely because the makers are not happy with the final output. The production house is planning to release the film in June 2019.

In a press release by E4 Entertainment, the film’s producers stated that they decided not to release this film directed by Bala because of differences with the remake. The statement read, “We at E4 Entertainment are not at all happy with the final version handed over to us and due to various creative and other differences, we have decided not to release this version. Instead we will start afresh and shoot a new tamil version of Arjun Reddy with Dhruv as the main lead, by staying true to the soul and intention of the original.”

The statement also said that the new film will have a different director, cast and crew, but actor Dhruv will be retained. They mentioned that despite the heavy loss, they wish to remake the film for their “love of seeing this cult film in Tamil.”

In January, it was announced that the film had been postponed due to a delay in getting clearance from the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). It was initially scheduled for a February 14 release, and later re-scheduled to release in March.

Varmaa is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Directed by Sandeep Vanga, Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Devarakonda, became a huge success after its release. The director is currently working with Shahid Kapoor on the Hindi remake of the film titled Kabir Singh.

Varmaa features debut actor Megha alongside Dhruv Vikram. Raiza Wilson of Pyaar Prema Kadhal fame essays Jia Sharma’s role from the original. The movie also features Easwari Rao and Jai Bala. Music was composed by Radhan and cinematography was by M Sukumar. Mukesh R Mehta produced the film under the banner E4 Entertainment.
