Varun Dhawan will team up with Piku director Shoojit Sircar for a film titled October. The film is being billed as an “unusual love story”. To the filmmaker, though, it’s an out-of-the-box kind of story.
“We started working on this film’s idea, which came from a small newspaper clipping, right before Piku,” he told Hindustan Times, adding that it’s “a very unusual, unconventional kind of a story” in the “slice-of-life and romance space”.
The film is also inspired by true events, he added. “But the basic idea came from a small newspaper clipping that I had read. If you see, all my films’ ideas are like that.”
Last weekend, the two of them had a successful script reading session.

Speaking about working with Sircar, Dhawan said: “I am definitely happy and excited. What’s amazing about him (Shoojit) is that he is very sure about his vision. I have met him just now, so I am trying to get into that world, understand it, and the way the film is going to breathe and feel. It’s very different from anything I have done before.”
The film goes on floors in October and will be shot in Delhi. Dhawan will also go off social media while shooting for this. “It will be a kind of shutdown mode for me… One thing that Shoojit sir has asked me to, and that I will do in October is go off social media completely. It’s not a big deal,” says the actor.
