Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are set to star in an upcoming Telugu film that will be helmed by filmmaker Shiva Nirvana, who last directed Tuck Jagadish (2021).
Tentatively referred to as VD11 since it will be Deverakonda’s 11th film, the upcoming project is backed by Naveen Yerneni and Ravishankar Yalamanchili under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. Dinesh Narasimhan serves as executive producer.
The yet-to-be-titled film was officially launched on Thursday with an inaugural ceremony. The first clap was sounded by Harish Shankar, the camera was switched on by Buchi Babu Sana, and the script was handed over by the producers to Shiva Nirvana, who directed the first shot.
The upcoming film, which the makers have termed a ‘family entertainer’, will mark the second collaboration of the two lead actors. Deverakonda and Samantha previously played supporting roles in the 2018 biographical drama Mahanati.
It is to be noted that both Deverakonda and Samantha have previously independently collaborated with the production banner. While Deverakonda starred in Mythri Movie Makers’ Dear Comrade, Samantha featured in Rangasthalam, which was also produced by the banner.
The first shooting schedule of VD 11 is set to commence in Kashmir in a couple of days. After this, the team will be moving to Hyderabad, Vizag, and Alleppey for the forthcoming schedules, as per a statement issued by the makers.
Aside from the lead actors, the cast also includes Jayaram, Sachin Khedakar, Murali Sharma, Lakshmi, Ali, Rohini, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Srikanth Iyengar, and Saranya.
