According to reports, the film distribution unit in Kerala ran into trouble as distributors there demanded compensation for the disastrous collection of Kochadaiiyaan, and it was at this crucial point that Vendhar stepped in. The Karnataka rights have been sold for a whopping 11 crores to Sri Gokul Films. Interestingly, the Tamil Nadu area rights do not entirely lie with Vendhar. Sukra Films is distributing the film in Coimbatore in 85 theatres – much higher than that of Chennai. Mannan Films will take care of the movie’s screening in Chengalpet while Capricorn is in charge of it in the North – South Arcot region.
Lingaa has already been censored with a U certificate and is scheduled to release on Rajinikanth’s birthday – December 12. We hear that plans are on to release the film in a record breaking number of screens in the state, much higher than that of Kaththi.
