Director Venkat Prabhu has quashed rumours that said that he will be working on a sequel to his 2008 film Saroja. Through a press release, he has confirmed that these reports are ‘baseless rumours’. He says that he is on the verge of completing the sequel of Chennai 28, and that the said plan of Saroja 2 is not in his scheme of things. “My concentration is on Chennai 28 II innings now and the focus is on recreating the magic of 2007, in 2016. Kindly note the numerological factor of the total nine is only coincidence, ” the director said with his typical sense of humour.” It was also widely reported that director/actor S J Suryah will play the lead role in Saroja 2.
The shooting of Chennai 28 – II is nearing completion, and the climax portion of the film will be directed by five filmmakers that include VR Nagendran (Kaaval, 2015), and four of Prabhu’s assistant directors – Venkatesh Ramakrishnan (Nalanum Nandhiniyum), Saravana Rajan (Vadacurry), Sripathy (Kanimozhi), and Chandru (Naveena Saraswathy Sabatham).
