Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar Star In First Of Karan Johar’s ‘Bhoot’ Series

Karan Johar announced on Monday that he will be producing a horror film series under the title Bhoot. The first in the franchise, Bhoot: Part 1 The Haunted Ship, will be directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh and stars Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead.

The first-look poster features Vicky Kaushal screaming out of the widow of a deck while a hand grabs his face. The film releases on November 15 this year.

Dharma Productions also shared a few stills from the film.

Calling it a special role, Bhumi said, “Sinking my teeth into this special role in this very special film as my friend and brother Bhanu marks his debut.”

This was also the title of Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar’s 2003 horror film directed by Ram Gopal Varma. While announcing the film, Karan Johar thanked RGV for allowing them to share the title of his film.

According to Scroll, Karan Johar said in a press statement, “I made an unreasonable request asking him for his franchise title Bhoot and he graciously and magnanimously agreed… We aspire to make sure the title is in the right hands of horror.”

The film will be co-produced by Shashank Khaitan, who directed Kalank for Dharma Productions recently. Bhanu Pratap Singh has worked as Shashank’s associate in the past.

More details about Bhoot are yet to be revealed, but reports say that it is based on a true story that took place in Mumbai. It has been filmed in various part of Gujarat. The shooting wrapped up recently and post-production is on.

Dharma Productions and Karan Johar, who are known for the romantic films, are making their first horror film with Bhoot. This is their second film with Vicky Kaushal after Takht, which is set to release in December 2020.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is currently in Shimla shooting for a romantic song of a music video. Bhumi Pednekar has the remake of the 1978 film Pati, Patni Aur Woh, which also stars Ananya Pandey, under production.
