At the recent first-look and song launch of Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo, director Vignesh Sivan’s speech created a controversy. Vignesh, who has written two songs for the film, mentioned in his speech that it was Anirudh who gave him the opportunity to write lyrics. This instantly ‘hurt the sentiments’ of a few rabid STR fans who accused him of not mentioning or thanking STR, who introduced him to Kollywood through the film Poda Podi (2012). This then led to the director being trolled by memes and abuses from STR’s fans.

Vignesh Shivan went on to explain himself through his Twitter page. He said that only had a few minutes on stage in the event, and wanted to talk about things that were relevant to Remo in particular, and the people involved in the film. He requested STR fans to not make an issue out of this. He also mentioned that he informed STR about the situation, personally.
Vignesh Shivan will soon be starting his next project titled Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kadhal starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles.
