Vijay Antony’s ‘Khaki’ Directed by Senthilkumar To Release In January

Vijay Antony At The 'Kolaigaran' Press Meet

Director Senthilkumar’s Khaki, an action entertainer starring Vijay Antony, Eswari Rao and Sathyaraj, is likely to release in January 2020. Actress Indhuja has joined the film’s cast, and Srikanth, John Vijay and Ravi Mari will also be seen in important roles.

The distribution rights to the film have been acquired by Infiniti Film Ventures.

50 percent of the filming is complete, and the shoot is likely to wrap up by October. The team travelled to Bangalore, Chennai and Shimoga for shoot. Cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa, music by Augath, lyrics by Vairamuthu, stunts by Kanal Kannan and Shyam and editing by Ruben. Production is by Open Theatres.

Senthilkumar made his directorial debut with Vaaimai in 2016, inspired by the Hollywood film Twelve Angry Men, starring Shantanu Bhagyaraj and Muktha Bhanu, along with Goundamani, Thiyagarajan, Poornima Bhagyaraj and others.

He told Silverscreen that after Vaaimai, he approached Vijay Antony for a film called Thirudan. “This was a big project, and demanded more commitment and time, and so we decided to work on another project before this. That’s when I showed him the script to Khaki,” he said.

The cop-thriller will star Vijay Antony in a never-seen-before role. “Khaki clothes are central to the plot, and Vijay Antony’s character carries the film forward. He plays a person with the mind of a cop, and the film will also see him as a husband and son-in-law. His family in the story is inspired by my wife’s family,” he said.

Sathyaraj and Eswari Rao star in equally important roles as his in-laws, Indhuja plays a teacher and Srikanth, an athlete. “I can’t reveal the story, but it is a full-fledged entertainer and the actors are a standout. They’ve all performed incredibly well,” he said.

The team will be travelling to Madurai for shoot tomorrow, and plan to release the music album in the next two months. The first-look will be out in September, and a trailer in October.

Vijay Antony, last seen in Kolaigaran, also has Agni Sirugugal and Thamilarasan under production.
