Vijay Confirms No Association With his Father’s Political Party

Soon after the news broke out that director SA Chandrasekhar has started a political party using his son’s name, actor Vijay issued a statement that he is not associated with the party, on Wednesday.

“I learnt that my father SA Chandrasekhar has started a political party today through the media. I would like to announce to my fans and the public that I am definitely not directly or indirectly involved with the party he has started. I will also like to inform that any actions he takes in the future through the party will not control me. I would like to ask my fans not to take part in the party or perform duties just because my father has started it. I want to inform that there is no connection between that party, us or our fan club. I will also like to inform that I will take action against anyone who tries to create a trouble using my name and my photos with All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Mandram,” the statement read. 

Earlier on Wednesday, legal representatives of Chandrasekhar submitted an application to the Election Commission of India to register Vijay’s fan club, All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Mandram. The director claimed that he had converted Vijay’s fan club into a welfare association since they were doing many good deeds. 

Talking to Puthiya Thalaimurai, Chandrasekhar said, “Many youngsters are doing several good things in Vijay’s name. I want them to have some recognition. Hence the move.”

Reportedly, the director had clarified to NDTV that the party was his initiative. “I have applied for registration of a political party in the name of All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam. It’s my initiative. This is not Vijay’s political party. I can’t comment whether he will enter electoral politics.” he said.

Earlier on Thursday, it was speculated on social media that Vijay has started a political party. Reacting to the rumours, Vijay’s manager Jagadish tweeted, “NO, ITS NOT TRUE !!”

Soon after Vijay’s statement, social media was abuzz with comments on the development. The anchor of YouTube channel Black Sheep, Dhinesh Venugopal, tweeted in Tamil, “The name of the party is Vijay’s movement but Vijay himself does not know about it.”
