Vijay Devarakonda’s Dear Comrade is likely to reschedule its release date to June 6. Originally scheduled to release on May 31, the movie is believed to have postponed its release ever since Suriya’s NGK (Nandha Gopala Kumaran) announced its arrival on the same date.
The producers of NGK, which has been in production for a while, announced that they plan to release on May 31 earlier this week.

According to India Today, this prompted the makers of Dear Comrade to push the release of the movie forward by a week. This would facilitate a solo release for the movie which is also being released in Tamil.
Written and directed by Bharat Kamma, Dear Comrade is a political film. There are also reports stating the movie is a remake of the 2017 Malayalam movie CIA (Comrade in America) starring Dulquer Salman. That movie featured a protagonist who practices left-wing politics but hails from a largely right wing family. Dear Comrade, with its title, makes no secret about its intentions. It has also been reported that Deverakonda plays a student leader in the film.

Apart from Deverakonda, the movie features Rashmika Mandanna and Shruti Ramachandran in the lead. Dear Comrade releases simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
NGK, directed by Selvaraghavan is a political movie featuring Suriya as a political upstart. The teaser showed him as a favourite of the masses, but who also colludes with his superiors. Similar to Dear Comrade, the movie features two female leads namely Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet.
The film marks the first collaboration between Suriya and director Selvaraghavan. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The cinematography is by Sivakumar Vijayan and editing by Praveen KL. The film is produced by SR Prabhu’s Dream Warrior Pictures.
NGK was scheduled to release during Deepavali last year but was delayed owing to the director’s health problems. The shoot for the film wrapped in January.
